About Me

The dream of becoming a police officer really stared about 15 years ago when I was 18.  After going to college and doing what I loved to do which was serving my community and worked for different non-profit organizations, this desire and my love for the mountains brought me from California to Colorado.  After getting married and moving to the Vail Valley, I instantly fell in love with this place.  It offered everything I ever wanted, snow, hiking, hunting, mountain biking, and so much more.  During my last 7 years of living in the valley, I had the opportunity to work for Eagle County School District, a great church, zip adventures, and other amazing organizations. Now, the timing is right, my wife and I are excited about the opportunity I have been given.

I am a first-generation Mexican.  I was never exposed to law enforcement as a kid, I just knew that it was a way for me to serve my community.  I believe that being bilingual and bicultural will help me connect with a very unique population in the Vail community, and I look forward to that aspect of the job as well.

I am so thankful for the Vail Police Department and their willingness to help make this dream of mine a reality.  I’ve been asked to blog about my experience at the academy and hope that I’m able to share my experience with you.  As I head off to the academy, I’m about to start an adventure that I know will make me a better person and more equipped individual for this job.  I’m nobody special, just a guy in the valley who’s been given the opportunity to serve his community.
